Environmental crime exceeds country borders – Instructions from IPA Gimborn Seminar to crime prevention

For the second time a professional environmental crime theme based seminar was held in 2. - 6.9.2019 at the initiative of the IPA Section Finland and in cooperation with the Gimborn Training Centre. The event was directed to police officers working in combatting against environment crimes and their cooperation authorities. Content of the seminar was themed with work title “Environmental Crimes - Illegal Profits and Cross-Border Crime - Sample cases and Best Practice Studies in fighting such Crime".

An environmental crime topic-based professional seminar was held on 5-8 June 2018 at the IPA's renovated training center in Germany based on the initiative of IPA Section Finland.

In addition to 11 lecturers, 25 professionals from the field of environmental crime from Finland and 7 other European countries participated in the seminar. Representatives from Police, prosecutor's offices, customs and various environmental authorities as well as from research in the field took part. This professional seminar was the first of its kind, organized by Finns.

THE SECTIONS OF THE INTERNATIONAL POLICE ASSOCIATION from the Nordic-Baltic Region (at present Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Norway and Sweden) convened in Rakvere, Estonia, 2 – 4 June 2017, and agreed on the following statement regarding their vision of the ideal representative of the International Police Association.
